Its 82 percentile

Nothing great to say about it... I have got my CAT results and its 82 percentile.
I have no one or nothing to blame except me, my discipline...

So, should I give CAT a second chance? Well, I'm not sure as of now. But definitely, I believe that preparing CAT will not only enrich my knowledge but also will bring in more discipline and structure to every day of my life..

And for sure, there almost an year to go for the next exams and ample amount of preparation is available (but be aware, any amount of time will not sufficient for lazy people..)

That's it for now.. And yeah, I'm not going to join some college with my great 82 percentile...
Instead, I'll do better at my work, prepare for next CAT(may be) and fill gaps in life...

See you!

Its 10 days since...

I blogged and you can assume that I sincerely practiced for CAT all this while !

Well, I must admit that a major release was planned for last friday at office and had to slog to stick to the deadline. And luckily the most complex part of software worked with utmost ease.. That is what has brought me back here !!!

Coming back to studies, I didn't give previous mock. Well I don't want to cite the reason - because we humans all we know is to reason each and everything. May be it makes sense to give a reason why we want to launch a rocket to moon but not for missing mock CAT...

I will go back to my studies now.. and check if I actually remember anything ?? By the way wat's the exam I'm preparing for?

It takes almost half an hour

Yeah that's the time it takes for me to solve a question from DI section.. After an early return from office [8 :00 pm] and a good dinner, I'm with previous mock test paper again.. solving the remaining DI questions..
Thank god I have the solution sheet. At least I can apply some reverse logic and try to figure out the approach. I must get more serious now atleast and should start having fun solving these questions..

One thing for sure, I have realized the way I was wasting time before. Just doing nothing. eating, sleeping and reading news paper and thats it. No wonder I have become lazy boy now! Just half an hour to study and I'm feeling sleepy..

Okay, let me go back to these DI problems... When will I prepare verbal? What happened to my admission ticket for exam? Will think about them tomorrow.
And will try to wake up early tomorrow morning, say 6:00 am ! sounds like bullshit right?

Blogger calls my blog a "spam"

At home early today from office... but had to do some work at home since its a festival day..
And I think i must start reading something now...

Since two days.. wats the progress?
Monday went completely at office.. and since last night, I have solved some DI questions of previous-to-previous mock test paper..

Somewhere I feel I dont know what I should know... sometimes I read this and sometimes that.. and after a week gap, I almost forget what I have read.. so there is something wrong in the approach.. having very less time to practice could be the problem.. but I have to live with it.. I have planned a 2 week vacation at office, just before the cat exam. But I'm sure in the coming days, I will have to stretch to complete all the work before I go for vacation.

So, my current status looks completely screwed up.

And I remembered the DI question from test paper. I had not attempted most of the DI questions. But after looking at the solution sheet, I was able to understand the question. So, I somehow felt that questions were not framed properly. Or again may be my lack of practice..

Well, I will go and do some study now.. probably DI continued.. btw this blogger.com has termed my blog as a "spam". I think they are right in doing so :)

Its aberrant

Its aberrant.. for 2 reasons:
- one I didn't blog yesterday
- second I went to give mock test without ID card. Ended up not taking the test at all :(

And all the preparation since yesterday.. is some antonym techniques. The moral of it was - the answer that is most convincing may not be right answer. For such questions to answer one must be aware of different fields like science, arts, geography, literature and so on. What do I know? being a software engineer? Writing code with lots of 'ifs' and 'buts'. And other times copying the existing code [may be copied too].
I just can't understand the planning part of software industry.. There is an idea to design and they set 2 weeks to design.. But I can't understand how did one arrive at 2 weeks plan?
In my opinion, design is a collection of ideas. And ideas evolve. What if the good ideas come only in the last of those 2nd week? It is quite possible that during these 2 weeks the ideas evolve and at the end, the best approach is arrived at. In which case the person has to redesign everything on the last day!
In some way, I believe that today's IT industry doesn't understand the meaning of innovation.. All they understand is time to market and when the product is in market, its time to correct bugs! In simple terms.. we software engineers are used to work in constraints resulting in narrow thinking and poor outcome...

Well ! off the topic though! Now that my sleep is away, I'll pick a data interpretation test book and try to solve some.. May be the previous mock test paper [means previous to previous - previous I didn't attend - asshole I'm].. And I dont want to repeat again the glory of my preparation [hope sentence formation is correct].. I'm coming DI..

And today, the usual hectic work at office didn't allow me come home early.

Intro

Hii!

Almost 30 days to go! I have been preparing for CAT since july 2008.. No I can't call it a preparation. Attending some coaching class during weekends... With hectic schedule at work [yeah, I'm working since 4 years], I hardly find time during weekdays to even think of touching some book. Most of us - people working and preparing CAT - have nightmares solving those mock cat papers.
Weekdays at office and weekends at coaching class... All of a sudden no time for anything!

Anyway I'm hear to remind myself that its not over yet. Almost 30 days to go. Will I be able to convert my half cooked knowledge to something edible? I will give my best shot !
My previous mock cat percentile score was around 53%. That is where I stand today.

And today status - poor as usual. Solved around 4-5 questions of previous mock test paper and then realized that I had slept for an hour in the afternoon. In the evening I revised some chapters of quadratic equations, logarithms and Progressions. Now will study some English - roots.. Not roots those u see on the footpaths of huge trees.. these are roots of english words. Please pardon me, that's all the knowledge I have on roots today...

Tomorrow I have got another mock test.. to increase my frustration levels !! Anyway its time for me to have dinner.. time 11:48pm on sweet saturday
